“We discussed steps to increase Türkiye-Indonesia trade volume to $10 billion”

Holding a joint press conference with Indonesian President Subianto, President Erdoğan said: “We discussed the potential steps to expand the trade volume to the target of 10 billion dollars in a balanced manner, based on mutual benefit. We agreed to launch new initiatives concerning our cooperation in areas extending from defense industry and construction to healthcare, energy, and food industry.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia held a joint press conference following their meeting at the Presidential Complex.

“I last visited the friendly and brotherly Indonesia in February on the occasion of the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council. I would like to take this opportunity to once again offer my gratitude to Mr. President and Indonesian authorities for the warm hospitality they displayed then. These mutual engagements demonstrate the unique level the brotherly and friendly ties between our countries have reached,” President Erdoğan said.

“WE ARE CELEBRATING THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS BETWEEN TÜRKİYE AND INDONESIA”

“My esteemed brother’s historic address today to the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye embodies the ancient brotherhood between our countries. This year, we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Indonesia. Indeed, our historical ties extend back to 400 years earlier,” President Erdoğan stated. “We just signed documents in the fields of culture, disaster and emergency management, and communication. We discussed the potential steps to expand the trade volume to the target of 10 billion dollars in a balanced manner, based on mutual benefit.”

WE REVIEWED OUR ONGOING PROJECTS AND NEW COOPERATION OPPORTUNITIES

President Erdoğan said: “We agreed to launch new initiatives concerning our cooperation in areas extending from defense industry and construction to healthcare, energy, and food industry. We reviewed our ongoing projects and new cooperation opportunities, including joint production, in defense industry. Social contacts and engagements between Türkiye and Indonesia, two important tourism countries, are expanding as well. We are pleased to see that last year 203 thousand tourists from Indonesia visited our country while nearly 50 thousand tourists from our country visited Indonesia. I believe that these figures will multiply as our national flag carriers increase their flights.”

“WE REMAIN IN COOPERATION WITH INDONESIA IN ALL INTERNATIONAL PLATFORMS”

Drawing attention to the efforts to further strengthen the ties between the peoples of the two countries through increased cooperation in culture and education, President Erdoğan went on: “We are pleased by Indonesian youths’ growing interest in Türkiye Scholarships. We regard each one of our nearly 5 thousand Indonesian brothers and sisters who study in our country as our cultural ambassadors. We remain in cooperation with Indonesia in all international platforms such as the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, G20, D-8, and MIKTA. We appreciate Indonesia’s stance on the Palestinian issue. In the forthcoming period, we will continue working with Indonesia to rebuild Gaza and advocate for the Palestinian cause.”
