“We do not want any chaos to take place in our region”

Delivering remarks following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting, President Erdoğan said: “Instability, crises, conflicts cannot be prevented in a world where the law of power, instead of the power of law prevails. We as Türkiye do not want any chaos or tension to take place in our region or other geographies. The preservation of the rules-based international system is important in this sense.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks to reporters during a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.

“WE WILL SOLVE THE TERROR PROBLEM FROM ITS ROOT”

Commencing his remarks by wishing Allah’s mercy upon the three police officers, who were killed by the DAESH terrorists last week, President Erdoğan described the scourge of terror, different forms of which he stressed Türkiye has been fighting against for decades, as an imperialist shackles put on Türkiye’s feet, and said: “All the illegitimate groups, from DAESH to FETO, DHKP-C to PKK, have been used as an apparatus to that end. Thanks to the heroic efforts of our gallant security forces, the capabilities provided to our country by our initiatives in defense industry, the historic reforms we have made in the area of rights and freedoms, and our nation’s profound sagacity, we have gotten a significant opportunity to get rid of the scourge of terror for good. We will wide open this window of opportunity opened before our country, and not allow it to be sabotaged. We will determinedly maintain the terror-free Türkiye process, and solve the terror problem, which has exhausted the energy and resources of our country for 40 years, from its root.”

“WE DO NOT APPROVE OF ANY ACT THAT VIOLATES POLITICAL LEGITIMACY”

Underscoring that Türkiye advocates justice, legitimacy and international law all across the world, and displays a clear stance wherever there is injustice, unlawfulness or oppression, from Gaza to Syria, President Erdoğan went on to say: “We are a government and a cadre that makes both domestic and foreign policy through principles, wisdom and conscience. No matter where in the world, we do not approve of any act that violates political legitimacy and international law. As regards the Venezuela issue, we endeavor to do what is the best and the most accurate for both Türkiye and the brotherly Venezuelan people. Mr. Maduro and the Venezuelan people have repeatedly shown that they are a friend of our nation. As the two brotherly countries, we have attached importance to and prioritized being in solidarity during our trying days. We act with the same understanding today as well.”

“TÜRKİYE AND THE TURKISH NATION WILL CONTINUE TO STAND BY THE BROTHERLY VENEZUELAN PEOPLE”

Describing the violation of countries’ sovereign rights and international law as risky steps that would lead to serious complications at global level, President Erdoğan noted: “Instability, crises, conflicts cannot be prevented in a world where the law of power, instead of the power of law prevails. We as Türkiye do not want any chaos or tension to take place in our region or other geographies. The preservation of the rules-based international system is important in this sense. We have thoroughly addressed the Venezuela incident in light of the up-to-date information gathered by our relevant units at today’s Cabinet Meeting. We have conveyed our country’s sensitivities to U.S. President Trump during our phone call with him. We have stressed that Venezuela should not be dragged into instability. Türkiye and the Turkish nation will continue to stand by the brotherly Venezuelan people in their struggle for prosperity, peace and development.”
