“We have a very rich heritage in archaeology”

Speaking at the International Archaeological Symposium, President Erdoğan said: “We have a very rich and very deep-rooted heritage in the area of archaeology. In this sense, it is of utmost importance to unearth, document, attentively protect and leave this treasure to next generations in the most beautiful manner.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the International Archaeological Symposium and visited the Golden Age of Archaeology Exhibition at the Nation’s Library in Ankara.
Speaking at the symposium, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye has a very rich and very deep-rooted legacy in the area of archaeology, and said: “In this sense, it is of utmost importance to unearth, document, attentively protect and leave this treasure to next generations in the most beautiful manner.”
“Our ancestors attached great importance to surface and protect our heritage with all its details and carry it to the future,” President Erdoğan underscored, and added: “Our works in the area of archaeology were further enhanced and gained momentum with the determined steps taken in the first years of the Republic. The excavations launched in different places, the archaeology departments founded at our universities and the museums built in the 1930s elevated the scientific works in this area to a higher level. In the following years, many wide-ranging projects were realized.”
Further noting that they now carry out the works in this area by mobilizing all the means in their hands, President Erdoğan added that they endeavor to carry Türkiye’s historical and cultural heritage to the future.
