“We have become the voice of the voiceless in every meeting we have attended”

Addressing an opening ceremony in Rize, President Erdoğan said: “We are courageously carrying to the humanity’s agenda the tragedies to which so-called civilized countries remain unresponsive and silent. This is what we did at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, the Organization of Islamic Countries summit, the United Nations General Assembly, and the previous day, at the Organization of Turkic States summit. Wherever we have travelled to and in every meeting we have attended, we have become the voice of the voiceless without fearing anyone.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the Opening Ceremony of Newly-Built Facilities and Projects in Rize.

President Erdoğan said: “While carrying on with our investments inside the country at full pace, we are also engaged in an intensive diplomatic initiative abroad. We are uplifting Türkiye’s prestige and weight in the international arena. We proudly represent our nation in the meetings joined by world leaders. We resolutely defend the rights and interests of the Turkish people. We are courageously carrying to the humanity’s agenda the tragedies to which so-called civilized countries remain unresponsive and silent.

“Yesterday, we received news from Egypt that made us all, all Muslims, and actually anyone with a conscience, happy. An agreement was reached in the negotiations between Hamas and the Israeli government. There were smiles on the faces in Gaza for the first in two years. People took to the streets not in fear but in joy. The happiness of our Palestinian brothers and sisters made us happy, too. The smiles of children in Gaza warmed us up. It took us to a world full of different emotions to see our Gazan brothers and sisters praying in gratitude. We are pleased since Gaza will take a breath again after a hiatus of two years. We are one of the countries contributing the most to this process since the very beginning. Stopping the bloodshed was our primary agenda item during our talks in New York and Washington, D.C., where we had a very sincere and fruitful meeting with U.S. President Mr. Trump. Then, I dispatched my MİT Director to Doha and My Foreign Minister to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. We held comprehensive talks with Hamas. We had meetings with the brotherly countries in the region, particularly Qatar and Egypt. In other words, we have done our part abundantly to bring peace, calm and security to Gaza as soon as possible. We have mobilized all our means, intelligence, and diplomats, and all our institutions to prevent the death of one more innocent person.”
