“We have designed nation’s gardens to serve as emergency assembly points”

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony of Nation’s Gardens on the 572nd Anniversary of Istanbul’s Conquest, President Erdoğan said: “In Istanbul alone, we have opened 34 nation’s gardens with a combined area of 5.579 million square meters, with 20 others currently under construction. We have designed our nation’s gardens to serve as emergency assembly points during disasters.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the Opening Ceremony of Nation’s Gardens on the 572nd Anniversary of Istanbul’s Conquest.
Noting that four new nation’s gardens are being inaugurated today, President Erdoğan said: “We are introducing in our city a very large green area where Istanbulites can comfortably breathe. Across Türkiye, we have so far completed the construction of 292 nation’s gardens with a green area of 35 million square meters in total. In Istanbul alone, we have opened 34 nation’s gardens with a combined area of 5.579 million square meters, with 20 others currently under construction. We have designed our nation’s gardens to serve as emergency assembly points during disasters. How important this is has been revealed once again during the latest 6.2-magnitude Istanbul earthquake.”
