"We have the capability to get through the fight against coronavirus without any panic or complacency"
Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın held a press conference at the Presidential Complex following a meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on measures to be taken against coronavirus (COVID-19).
“WE WILL CONTINUE TO RIGOROUSLY FIGHT AGAINST CORONAVIRUS”
Highlighting Turkey’s successful and effective fight against coronavirus so far, Presidential Spokesperson Kalın said: “It is of great importance that our citizens pay heed to and meticulously implement the official statements without giving way to panic or complacency and play and active role in order for the fight against the pandemic to continue successfully in the areas of healthcare, education, transportation, tourism, economy, defense industry. In line with the measures taken so far, we will continue to rigorously and determinedly fight against coronavirus.”
“SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED FOR A WEEK BEGINNING MARCH 16”
“Primary, middle and high schools would be closed for a week beginning March 16, thereby moving forward the mid-term break. Then, as of March 23, our students will continue their education via internet and television with the distance learning system,” Presidential Spokesperson Kalın said.
“Secondly, our universities will be suspended as of March 16 for three weeks,” Presidential Spokesperson Kalın added.
“SPORTING EVENTS WILL BE HELD WITHOUT SPECTATORS UNTIL THE END OF APRIL”
“Thirdly, it has been decided, per specialists’ recommendations and analysis that sporting events will be held without spectators until the end of April,” Presidential Spokesperson Kalın said.
Noting that public servants’ travels abroad will be subjected to official permission, Presidential Spokesperson Kalın also advised citizens to postpone their international travels.

“We have the means and capability to get through the fight against coronavirus without giving way to panic or complacency. Given the global picture, we see that the measures taken in Turkey so far have been highly effective. We will implement these measures determinedly without creating any panic or giving way to complacency and we will manage this process together,” Presidential Spokesperson Kalın underscored.
Presidential Spokesperson Kalın also announced that President Erdoğan’s visits abroad will be postponed for a while.
