“We will continue our fight against all forms of addiction”
Addressing the International Federation of Green Crescent Forum, President Erdoğan said: “We will continue our fight against all forms of addiction, including the scourge of betting and gambling that ruins families, the calamity of alcohol that destroys households, the catastrophe of drugs that shatters lives, the screen addiction that corrupts minds, and, in short, all maladies that harm the health of our people and the peace of our society.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the International Federation of Green Crescent Forum in Istanbul.
“The Green Crescent, which undertakes precious works both at home and abroad, assumes a leading and path-breaking role in civil society activities. Waging an unwavering fight against all sorts of addiction, it passes the torch of independence lit a century ago from hand to hand. I wholeheartedly congratulate the Green Crescent, whose 105-year history is full of achievements and self-sacrifices,” President Erdoğan said.

Describing addiction as an archenemy of a healthy body, President Erdoğan stated: “Fighting this malady, which causes the person to rot from inside and corrupts the society step by step, is of vital importance to us all. We need to protect our people against all forms of addiction through preventive, protective, and therapeutic measures. Protecting the youth, in particular, is extremely important. As the state, we, with all our units, act with utmost diligence and care to fulfill our responsibilities in the fight against all forms of addiction.”
President Erdoğan went on: “We take deterrent measures against dangers such as tobacco, illegal substances, internet and screen addiction, and the quagmire of gambling that directly threaten our generations. Both through legal regulations and strategy and action plans, we act with great sensitivity on this issue. Our relevant ministries, municipalities, and institutions work in a spirit of mobilization to raise clean minds, healthy generations, and strong individuals.”
Expressing determination in combatting addiction, President Erdoğan stressed: “We will continue our fight against all forms of addiction, including the scourge of betting and gambling that ruins families, the calamity of alcohol that destroys households, the catastrophe of drugs that shatters lives, the screen addiction that corrupts minds, and, in short, all maladies that harm the health of our people and the peace of our society. With the motto, ‘an addiction-free future for all of us’, we will extend our hand to our young people suffering in the grip of addiction. We will not allow addictive substances like drugs, or gambling, alcohol and tobacco to cause our youth to wither.”
