“We will not allow anyone to oppress the European Turkish community”
Addressing a meeting with the Union of International Democrats delegation, President Erdoğan said: “We will not allow anyone to oppress the European Turkish community, which accompanies us on our journey towards the Century of Türkiye in good faith, and will put any incompetent who makes any such attempt in their place.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at a meeting with the Union of International Democrats delegation in Ankara.
Expressing determination not to allow any Turkish citizen, whether at home or abroad, to be marginalized or held in contempt, President Erdoğan said: “No matter what titles or positions they hold, no one can disrespect you, my dear brothers and sisters, who make foreign lands their second homeland through sacrifices and sufferings endured in silence. We will not allow anyone to oppress the European Turkish community, which accompanies us on our journey towards the Century of Türkiye in good faith, and will put any incompetent who makes any such attempt in their place.”
President Erdoğan went on: “Let me reiterate that no one can ill-treat you, shake their finger at you, or speak to you from a position of superiority. Never forget that you, as European Turks, are true children of our nation, you are part and parcel of our country, you are this country’s gateway to the world, and you are a piece from our soul wherever you live. Former governments might have disregarded and neglected you, or some others might have looked at you solely from a foreign-currency perspective for decades; yet, all of you, along with our seven million people who have built a life for themselves all across the world, deserve the highest of respect and the best of services.”
