“Wherever there is an oppressed person, we have worked to heal their wounds”
Speaking at the International Human Rights Conference and Opening of Echoes Exhibition, President Erdoğan said: “From Arakan to Somalia, Syria to Gaza, wherever there is an oppressed person, we have worked to rush to their aid and heal their wounds. Never backing down in the face of tyrants and invaders, we will continue to speak out the truth and uphold justice without fearing or shying away from anyone.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the International Human Rights Conference and Opening of Echoes Exhibition in Istanbul.
Touching upon the ceasefire reached between Israel and Hamas on October 10, President Erdoğan said: “I hereby extend on my, my wife’s and my nation’s behalf my solidarity to especially our Palestinian brothers and sisters, who have been trying to heal their wounds despite Israel’s all the violations following the ceasefire established by our contributions as well, and to all the oppressed, who have been going through trying days in Sudan, Yemen, Somalia and in other places.”
Noting that so long as there is oppression, violence and discrimination, there will also be those fighting against them, President Erdoğan highlighted as an example the struggles put up by Malcolm X and Şule Yüksel Şenler, and said: “Throughout our political life spanning almost half a century, we have never disappointed our people or betrayed their confidence. We have always stood tall but have never become arrogant. We have managed to overcome even the most difficult obstacles and arduous challenges, including the headscarf ban, with the encouragement of my esteemed wife Emine Erdoğan and my children, and with the strong support of my dear nation. From Arakan to Somalia, Syria to Gaza, wherever there is an oppressed person, we have worked to heal their wounds. Never backing down in the face of tyrants and invaders, we will continue to speak out the truth and uphold justice without fearing or shying away from anyone.”
“Also, I once again wish Allah’s mercy upon our 20 martyrs , and extend on my, my family’s and my nation’s behalf my condolences to their families,” President Erdoğan added.
